Marissa Cummings, MSW

Marissa Cummings is a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) in the state of Illinois, providing therapy for children, adolescents, and adults. She offers individual counseling tailored to each client's unique needs and supports individuals navigating anxiety, depression, self-esteem concerns, emotional regulation, life transitions, and difficult family dynamics. She has a particular heart for teenage clients and their families, believing that supporting kids benefits the whole family.

Her therapeutic approach is grounded in warmth, authenticity, and a deep commitment to making every client feel seen, heard, and not alone. She creates a safe and nonjudgmental space where trust in oneself and in the therapeutic process can grow. Marissa incorporates evidence-based practices including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Family Systems Therapy, and Emotion Focused Therapy, and frequently draws on art-based approaches when working with younger clients as expressive and engaging alternatives to traditional talk therapy.

Marissa earned her Master of Social Work (MSW) from Roberts Wesleyan University in Rochester, New York in 2024.

Outside of the therapy room, Marissa enjoys hosting dinner parties with friends, reading great books, and exploring local coffee shops. Marissa loves scrapbooking and baking sourdough bread.
